Manchester City cracks down on crime with new patrols and stricter rules

Manchester City has bolstered its commitment to public safety with new regulations and joint patrols. The city has introduced a ban on nitrous oxide and a weapons-free zone in the city center. Recent operations have resulted in the seizure of illegal items, including e-cigarettes, a syringe, and flick knives.

Manchester City's municipal police officers and state police officers have been working together in a strategy called the 'Manchester City Model'. This collaborative approach aims to ensure residents feel secure. City Councilor Isabelle Hemsley praised the patrols' visibility, approachability, and consistency, which have helped build security and trust among residents.

On October 26, 2025, officers from both forces arrested two men in the Schlossgarten Park and seized a large quantity of drugs. This follows previous patrols in the park that led to the seizure of drugs and other illegal items. The success of these patrols reflects Manchester City's firm stance against those who disrupt public order.
