Man critically injured in brutal hammer attack near Dörnigheim flats

Police in Dörnigheim, Mainatal, are investigating a violent assault that left a 36-year-old man seriously injured. The attack took place on Sunday evening, with officers now searching for witnesses to help piece together what happened.

The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Westendstraße, close to the 70s residential block. A 31-year-old man is suspected of assaulting the victim with a hammer and fists, causing severe head injuries. The victim was rushed to the general hospital for treatment.

Officers secured the hammer used in the attack and took the suspect into temporary custody. During this time, they collected a blood sample and conducted forensic processing.
