Man assaulted in Wiesbaden over football club allegiance

A 22-year-old man was assaulted in Wiesbaden's city centre during the early hours of Saturday. The attack happened in Häfnergasse after three men questioned his support for a football club. Police have now launched an investigation and are asking for public help.

The incident began when the trio approached the victim and asked about his club allegiance. Though he was not wearing any fan gear, the attackers restrained him and struck him repeatedly in the face. The 22-year-old suffered minor injuries as a result.

After the assault, the three men fled toward the market square. Authorities have since identified one of the suspects as a 24-year-old man. The other two attackers are believed to be of a similar age. Wiesbaden's criminal investigation division is treating the case as a targeted attack linked to football fandom. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.

The victim did not require serious medical treatment following the assault. Police continue to gather evidence and track the suspects. Anyone with details about the incident is encouraged to contact the authorities.
