Construction work on Main-Weser Railway - Timetable restricted - Major train disruptions hit Germany's Main-Weser Railway for three weeks

Passengers travelling on the Main-Weser Railway will face significant disruptions from March 6 to 27. The changes come as construction work takes place in central Hesse, affecting multiple train lines and routes.

The work is part of a modernisation project, including preparations for a new electronic signal box in Stadtallendorf. Due to the upgrades, only one track will remain open in the construction area, increasing the risk of delays.

On weekdays, RB41 trains between Kirchhain and Treysa will be cancelled entirely. IC Line 34 will also see changes, with most services starting and ending in Dillenburg until March 20, skipping several intermediate stations.

Weekend closures will be even more extensive. The line between CĂślbe and EdermĂźnde-Grifte will shut completely, forcing RE30 and RE98 trains to run only between Frankfurt and Marburg. Additionally, RE30 services will not operate between Friedberg and Frankfurt Main Station from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM from March 9 to 13.

Other adjustments include rerouted ICE Line 26 services between Kassel and Frankfurt, bypassing multiple stops. RB39 will run hourly between Kassel and Bad Wildungen, but with altered departure times on weekdays. Meanwhile, RE98 trains from Frankfurt will terminate early at Wabern during the week.

The disruptions will last until March 27, affecting both regional and long-distance travellers. Passengers are advised to check updated schedules before travelling, as delays and cancellations are expected throughout the construction period.
