Blasting of Bridge Sections at Rüsselsheim Triangle - Major Highway Demolition This Weekend: Expect Traffic Disruptions
This weekend, a major highway demolition will take place at the Rüsselsheim Triangle, causing significant traffic disruptions. Two old bridge sections spanning the A67 will be demolished by controlled explosion on Saturday around 4:00 AM, with the highway fully closed from Friday evening until Monday morning.
The demolition, consisting of two detonations spaced 10 to 15 seconds apart, will see the closure of the highway from 21:00 on Friday until 5:00 AM on Monday. Connecting ramps will also be closed from 3:00 to 6:00 AM on Saturday. Each of the 140-meter long bridges is expected to yield around 4,500 to 5,000 tons of reinforced concrete for recycling after the demolition.
The responsible company for the demolition work on the bridge sections has not been identified through online searches.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, allowing extra time for alternative routes. The demolition is part of the ongoing highway improvement works, with the recycled concrete to be used in future construction projects. The highway is expected to reopen by Monday morning.
