Major Drug Trafficking Trial Begins in Meiningen on October 6

A significant drugs case is set to commence at Meiningen Regional Court on October 6, 2025. A 56-year-old defendant from Bad Salzungen will stand trial for alleged involvement in drug smuggling, armed drug trafficking, and other charges. The case stems from a large-scale police raid in March, resulting in the arrest of six men, one of whom is suspected of being a crystal meth dealer in the Thuringian Forest area.

The trial, scheduled for 9:00 AM in Room A 145, will hear allegations that the defendant stored and intended to sell over 500g of amphetamine and approximately 30g of methamphetamine on separate occasions. Prosecutors claim the defendant was a key player in a drug trafficking ring, involving the other five men arrested during the raid. Additionally, the defendant is accused of keeping a knuckleduster within reach during one of the alleged incidents, suggesting potential involvement in armed trafficking.

The commencement of this trial marks a crucial step in dismantling the suspected drug trafficking network operating in the Thuringian Forest area. The defendant's alleged actions, if proven, highlight the serious nature of the crimes and the significant impact on local communities. The court will now consider the evidence presented and determine the outcome of the case.
