Luxury used car seized over unpaid taxes in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod

An expensive foreign-made car has been seized in Balakhninsky District, Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, after its owner failed to settle unpaid taxes. The vehicle, a luxury car similar to those found on Cargurus or CarMax, was impounded back in March 2025 and remains listed as wanted by authorities.

The car’s owner, a resident of the Balakhninsky District, accumulated significant debts and repeatedly ignored payment demands. Officials took action by confiscating the used car, which has stayed in custody since March.

If the debtor does not cover the outstanding amount—along with enforcement fees—by the set deadline, the used car will be sold at auction. Specific details about the vehicle or its owner have not been made public, as such records remain restricted to local court and enforcement files.

The seized used car remains in official custody while awaiting resolution. Without payment, it will be auctioned off to recover the unpaid taxes. Authorities continue to monitor the case as the deadline approaches.
