Lullus Festival Marred by Thefts and Assaults, Police Seek Info
The Lullus Festival in Bad Hersfeld brought a mix of joy and trouble last weekend. While thousands enjoyed the event, local police dealt with several incidents, including thefts and assaults, leaving the community on edge.
The festival, held on October 13, started peacefully but took a turn for the worse as the day progressed. Around 13:30, a 64-year-old woman had her wallet stolen from her jacket pocket in the Klausstraße. Later, at 18:45, several people got into a fight and threatened each other inside the festival tent on the market square.
Meanwhile, outside the festival, a 32-year-old man was injured by an unknown assailant around 18:20 near an ice cream parlor on the Lingplatz. Two men were also injured in a verbal argument with five unknown individuals around 21:10 in the Wallengasse, with a 17-year-old suspect identified.
In separate incidents, two men stole several old copper pipes from a property in the Petersstraße in Heringen on Saturday, October 11, around 11:15. Unknown individuals also stole several hundred meters of power cables from the gravel pit in the Auweg in Obersuhl between October 10 and 13. The thefts resulted in stolen goods worth several thousand euros, and investigations are ongoing to determine if they are connected.
Six criminal charges were filed during the festival: wallet theft, bodily harm, threat, and dangerous bodily harm.
The Bad Hersfeld Police Station encourages the public to provide information about these incidents. Anyone with knowledge of the events is urged to come forward. The police are working diligently to solve these cases and maintain the safety of the community.
