Ludwigstraße shuts down for crane work, disrupting key bus routes
Major bus diversions will take place in the city centre on February 21 and 22. A crane installation on Ludwigstraße will force a full road closure, affecting multiple routes. Passengers are advised to plan ahead as several stops will be temporarily unavailable.
From early morning on February 21 until the end of February 22, Ludwigstraße near Gartenstraße will shut completely. A large crane will be erected, blocking all traffic through the area.
Bus routes 3, 13, 801, and 802 will avoid the closed section by taking alternative paths. These services will no longer stop at 'Berliner Platz'. Instead, passengers should board or alight at 'Stadttheater' during the disruption.
Buses travelling between 'Stadttheater' and either 'Uni-Hauptgebäude' or 'Liebigschule' will follow a detour via Südanlage and Bismarckstraße. The change applies to all journeys in both directions for the two days.
On the night of February 21 to 22, the Saturn night bus will skip its usual stops at 'Liebigschule' and 'Sternmark'. It will run directly from 'Berliner Platz' to 'Alter Friedhof' instead.
The temporary measures aim to minimise delays while the crane is installed. Travellers should check updated timetables and allow extra time for their trips. Normal service will resume once the road reopens on February 23.
