Lübeck's 2025 Rent Index: Transparency and Legal Certainty Coming
The Hanseatic City of Lübeck is set to compile its 2025 Rent Index, starting on October 27, 2025. This initiative, based on the Rent Index Reform Act, aims to provide transparency and legal certainty in the city's housing market.
Data collection will commence with survey materials sent to randomly selected households. Both landlords and tenants are legally required to provide necessary information for the rent index. The process is overseen by the Rent Index Working Group, comprising local representatives from associations, departments, and councils. FUB IGES Wohnen + Immobilien + Umwelt GmbH has been commissioned to conduct the data collection.
The rent index will establish an up-to-date and legally robust snapshot of local comparative rents. Detailed information on data collection procedures and legal frameworks is available on the city’s website at www.luebeck.de/rentindex. High participation from residents is crucial to achieving a representative picture of the city’s rental landscape.
