After nearly 28 years of marriage, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli have decided to live apart, taking a break from their relationship. This development comes following their involvement in the high-profile Varsity Blues college board scandal in 2020.
The couple, who share daughters Bella Rose and Olivia Jade, were among the many wealthy parents charged in the scheme orchestrated by college admissions consultant William 'Rick' Singer. They initially faced trial in October 2020 on charges of paying $500,000 in bribes to secure their daughters' admission to the University of Southern California. However, in May 2020, Loughlin and Giannulli agreed to serve prison time as part of a plea deal, putting an end to the legal proceedings.
Loughlin and Giannulli pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire and mail fraud. They served their sentences in 2020, with Loughlin spending two months in prison and Giannulli serving five. Felicity Huffman, another parent involved in the scandal, served nearly two weeks in prison after admitting to paying $15,000 to have someone correct her daughter's entrance exam answers.
The separation of Loughlin and Giannulli comes after they have both paid their dues in the legal system for their role in the college admissions bribery case. There are currently no divorce proceedings underway, and they are taking a break in their marriage. The couple married in 1997 and has two daughters together.
