Lone Veteran to Receive Full Military Honors After Decades of Service
A U.S. Army veteran with no known next of kin will be laid to rest with full military honours next month. Sergeant First Class Edward Franklin Taylor served his country for nearly three decades before passing away. The ceremony will take place at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen on November 20 at 2 p.m.
The Unaccompanied Veterans Program ensures that veterans without family receive a dignified burial. Established a decade ago, it provides military honours for those who might otherwise be interred without recognition. Before this initiative, some veterans were buried without any formal ceremony.
Taylor’s burial will mark another instance of the program’s commitment to honouring veterans. The ceremony ensures his service is recognised, regardless of family presence. The community’s attendance will provide a final tribute to a soldier who dedicated nearly 30 years to his country.
