Lloyd's of London appoints two new Deputy Chairs to drive 2025 strategy

Lloyd's of London has named Fiona Luck and Sean McGovern as its new Deputy Chairs starting in 2025. The appointments aim to push forward key strategic goals, including digital transformation and global expansion. Both will also take on additional leadership roles within the organisation.

Fiona Luck has been part of the Lloyd's Council since 2018, holding several non-executive positions. Alongside her new role as Deputy Chair, she has also been appointed Senior Independent Director, pending regulatory approval. Her experience spans governance and oversight within the insurance sector.

Sean McGovern joined the Lloyd's Council in 2023 and currently leads AXA XL's insurance operations in the UK and Lloyd's market. His appointment as Deputy Chair comes as the marketplace seeks to strengthen its leadership team.

The new Deputy Chairs will focus on five main priorities over the next three to five years. These include improving market resilience, speeding up digital adoption through AI and data analytics, and expanding into sustainable and specialty insurance. They will also work on better risk management for climate and cyber threats while driving growth in emerging markets such as Asia and Latin America.

Sir Charles Roxburgh, Chair of Lloyd's, welcomed the appointments, highlighting their importance for the marketplace's future. Victoria Carter, who has served as Deputy Chair since 2021, will continue in her role. Meanwhile, Lloyd's is still searching for a permanent Independent Director to complete its leadership structure.

The appointments of Luck and McGovern mark a step toward Lloyd's strategic ambitions for 2025 and beyond. Their roles will centre on digital innovation, risk management, and global market expansion. Regulatory approval for Luck's additional position as Senior Independent Director remains pending.
