Limburg's year-long theft-free streak ends with two bold robberies in March 2026

Two separate thefts have been reported at public sites in the Limburg region, breaking a year-long streak without such incidents. Police confirmed the cases took place in March 2026, targeting fuel and metal from a construction site and a community centre.

The first theft occurred at a construction site along Federal Highway 8, between Brechen and Niederbrechen. Thieves siphoned roughly 160 litres of diesel from a tractor sometime between 4:15 PM on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, and 6:30 AM the following morning.

Earlier that week, copper cladding was removed from the community centre in Thalheim, Dornburg. The theft happened on Frickhöfer Straße between 8:00 PM on Monday, March 16, 2025, and 10:00 AM on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. No other damage was reported at either location. Before these incidents, no thefts at public buildings or construction sites in the region had been recorded in the previous twelve months.

The cases mark the first documented thefts at public sites in the Limburg area since early 2025. Authorities are reviewing evidence but have not yet released details on potential suspects. Both locations remain operational despite the losses.
