Limburg rocked by e-scooter theft and violent pepper spray assault in morning crime spree
A series of incidents unfolded in Limburg on Tuesday morning, involving theft, assault, and the misuse of an e-scooter. Police responded to multiple calls, including a pickpocket targeting a woman outside a shoe store and two teenagers accused of stealing an e-scooter and using pepper spray on its owner.
Authorities are now investigating both cases and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
The first incident began when a man reported two girls, aged 13 and 15, riding away on his e-scooter. When he confronted them, the younger girl sprayed him with animal repellent. Officers arrived at the scene and found the caller along with the two teenagers.
The 13-year-old was taken to the police station before being handed over to a relative. Her repellent spray was confiscated, while the 15-year-old was released on-site. The e-scooter they had been riding was seized by police. In a separate case, a pickpocket struck outside a shoe store in Limburg. The suspect, described as a 35-year-old with an athletic build, followed a woman into a medical building's elevator. There, the thief stole her handbag, which contained her wallet. The suspect was last seen wearing a light blue-turquoise outfit and matching headscarf. Criminal police are now leading the investigation into the theft. Witnesses with information have been urged to contact authorities immediately.
The two incidents remain under active investigation. Police have confiscated the animal repellent and the stolen e-scooter, while the pickpocket remains at large. Anyone with details about either case is encouraged to assist the ongoing inquiries.
