Liberty Mutual appoints new CEO to lead unified Singapore insurance business
Liberty Mutual Insurance Group has named Jimmy Tong as the new CEO of its Singapore business. His appointment takes effect on 27 April 2026, following a major restructuring of the company's operations in the region. The move comes as the insurer consolidates its local entities under a single licence.
The unified Singapore business now operates under one insurance licence, combining Liberty Insurance and Liberty Specialty Markets. This merger, finalised on 1 January 2026, allows the company to offer a full range of products—from personal and SME policies to corporate coverage, including property, liability, motor, medical, and specialty lines.
Tong joins from Great Eastern, where he spent the past decade leading its General and Group Insurance divisions. His experience in Singapore's insurance sector made him a strong candidate for the role. Reporting directly to Matthew Jackson, President of Asia Pacific, Tong will oversee the newly integrated entity.
The leadership reshuffle also sees Yasar Fistikci, former CEO of Liberty Insurance, transition into a new position as Chief Product Officer for Singapore. Meanwhile, Nicole Lim, who currently heads Liberty Specialty Markets, will leave the company at the end of April.
With Tong at the helm, Liberty Mutual's Singapore operations will now function as a single, streamlined business. The restructuring aims to simplify product offerings and improve efficiency across personal, commercial, and specialty car insurance lines. The changes reflect the company's strategy to strengthen its presence in the Asian market.
