LEA Hesse's 'Fernewald' Wind Park to Power 43,500 Homes
The LEA Hesse State Energy Agency has highlighted successful local energy transitions, showcasing the 'Fernewald' wind park. The project, north of Steinbach, will serve Fernwald, Buseck, and Giessen municipalities, supplying around 43,500 households with clean electricity.
The application for a building permit was submitted in June 2025, with construction slated for 2027. The site selection minimized forest damage, with plans for reforestation post-completion. LEA Hesse supported the municipalities, working with 'Lintas Green Energy GmbH' and 'Land+Forst Renewable Energies GmbH'.
Planning is advancing, with expert opinions finalized and further steps prepared. Upon completion, the wind park will be operated by a company with up to 70% municipal and regional partner shares. This intermunicipal cooperation aims to strengthen regional value creation and supply clean electricity.
The 'Fernewald' wind park, a result of successful local energy transition, is set to provide renewable electricity to thousands of households. With careful planning and intermunicipal cooperation, it stands as a testament to the region's commitment to sustainability and clean energy.
