Krasnoyarsk's bankruptcy surge leaves creditors with near-zero recoveries in 2025
Bankruptcy cases in the Krasnoyarsk region rose sharply in 2025, continuing a trend from previous years. The regional court reported a 22% increase compared to 2024, with 5,577 proceedings filed. Most cases favoured debtors, leaving creditors with minimal recoveries.
The Krasnoyarsk Regional Commercial Court handled a total of 5,577 bankruptcy cases in 2025. This marked a significant rise from earlier years, particularly after 2022, when sanctions, inflation, and energy price swings followed Russia's involvement in the Ukraine conflict. During the 2010s, annual cases ranged between 700 and 900, but by 2022ā2023, they exceeded 1,000āa 20ā30% jump from the previous decade.
Overall debts in these cases reached 15.7 billion rubles. Creditors managed to recover just 545.5 million rubles, satisfying only 3.5% of their claims. For individuals, the success rate was even lower: creditors recovered 333.6 million rubles out of 10.7 billion demanded, a mere 3.1%. In 98% of individual cases, debtors walked away debt-free, with 4,832 rulings granting full debt release.
Legal entity bankruptcies showed slightly better outcomes for creditors. They secured 208.3 million rubles from 4.46 billion sought, achieving a 4.7% recovery rate. Still, the figures highlight the challenges creditors face in reclaiming funds.
The data confirms a tough environment for creditors in Krasnoyarsk's bankruptcy courts. With only a small fraction of claims recovered, most debtors emerged from proceedings without financial obligations. The surge in cases also reflects broader economic pressures affecting businesses and individuals in the region.
