Krasnoyarsk cracks down on school security with stricter rules and penalties

A recent crackdown on school security in Krasnoyarsk Territory has led to stricter oversight and penalties. Between October and November 2024, authorities inspected 110 municipal schools to check compliance with safety standards. The findings triggered formal complaints, license suspensions, and changes to future contracts.

Inspections uncovered widespread issues across the schools. Officials filed 79 formal complaints against security providers for failing to meet regulations. Eight schools showed repeated violations, prompting termination notices for the firms responsible.

The Krasnoyarsk branch of the Russian National Guard took further action by suspending the licenses of two private security companies. These measures reflect growing concerns over lapses in guarding public facilities. In response, the city has tightened its tender rules for 2025. New requirements include a rapid response team, a 24/7 duty unit, and an emergency reserve team. Bids will now be judged on stricter criteria, such as the firm's past performance, staff qualifications, and financial health.

The changes aim to improve security across Krasnoyarsk's schools. Stricter evaluations and mandatory response teams will apply to all future contracts. Authorities have not disclosed how many firms have faced similar penalties in recent years.
