Knife attack, burglary and drunk driver shock Rheingau-Taunus in chaotic weekend
A series of incidents over the weekend kept police busy in the Rheingau-Taunus district. Officers dealt with a knife attack in Geisenheim, a residential burglary in Idstein-Wörsdorf, and a heavily intoxicated driver near Waldems. Each case involved distinct suspects and circumstances.
The most serious incident saw a 22-year-old man threatened with a knife early Sunday morning. Meanwhile, a home was broken into late Monday, and a driver with a blood alcohol level over four times the legal limit was arrested.
The first incident occurred on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at around 04:00 AM. A 22-year-old man was confronted by a knife-wielding attacker near the old cemetery on HospitalstraĂe in Geisenheim. The suspect, described as 16 to 18 years old and roughly 180 cm tall, wore a tracksuit, a Gucci cap, and spoke in Asi-Slang. Police are also searching for a second person linked to the attack, who was dressed entirely in black, including gloves, and wore light-coloured running shoes.
A separate burglary took place early Monday, December 22, 2025, at 00:30 AM. Thieves broke into a home on Dresdener StraĂe in Idstein-Wörsdorf by smashing a window. When the alarm activated, the intruders triggered a fog machine, obscuring their escape. Witnesses reported seeing a suspect with a southern Mediterranean appearance, a long nasal bridge, and a full beard. He was wearing an olive-green puffer jacket with a hood, a hoodie, black jogging pants with a white logo, black-and-white shoes, and red gloves. Earlier, on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 01:15 AM, police stopped a driver on BundesstraĂe 8 near Waldems. The man, heading toward Limburg, had a blood alcohol level exceeding 0.20%. Officers arrested him, confiscated his licence, and took a blood sample. Over the weekend, additional traffic checks across the district found only one other driver slightly above the 0.05% limit.
The knife attack victim in Geisenheim was left shaken but uninjured. Police continue to search for both suspects in that case. The burglary in Idstein-Wörsdorf remains under investigation, with no arrests yet made.
The drunk driver near Waldems faces charges, including driving under the influence. Authorities have reminded the public about the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of reporting suspicious activity.
