Kazakhstan slashes illegal gasoline exports by half in bold crackdown

Kazakhstan's authorities have made significant strides in curbing illegal gasoline exports. Operation Peretok, launched in March 2022, has seen a 50% reduction in such activities by June of the same year.

The operation targeted vehicles modified for fuel trafficking, with authorities discovering 865 cases of re-entry into Kazakhstan. This vigilance led to the prevention of 534 attempts to smuggle AI-92 gasoline. Those caught in the act faced administrative penalties.

The Kazakhstan Financial Monitoring Agency (FMA) has confirmed these achievements, attributing the success to enhanced border control and increased surveillance.

Operation Peretok has proven effective in reducing illegal gasoline exports, with a 50% decrease reported. The Kazakhstan authorities' commitment to stricter enforcement has led to a significant improvement in this area.
