Where people in Hesse are particularly happy - Kassel Tops German Happiness Atlas for Second Year

Kassel has been crowned the happiest city in Germany among major cities, topping the Happiness Atlas ranking by the South German Class Lottery (SKL) for two consecutive years. The city's high ranking can be attributed to its young population, abundant green spaces, and robust healthcare system.

The Happiness Atlas study, conducted by the German Federal Association for Burnout Prevention, ranks the 40 largest cities in Germany with over 200,000 residents based on a representative survey. In stark contrast to Kassel's top position, Wiesbaden ranked second-to-last in the assessment among major German cities. Frankfurt am Main, another prominent city, secured the 35th spot in the ranking.

The Happiness Atlas study highlights the significant differences in well-being among Germany's major cities. While Kassel leads the way, other cities like Wiesbaden and Frankfurt have room for improvement in enhancing their residents' happiness and overall quality of life.
