Police Arrest Suspected Gas Station Robber - Kassel gas station robberies linked to 32-year-old suspect in custody

A 32-year-old man has been accused of robbing multiple gas stations in Kassel and the surrounding area. Police launched an investigation after a witness reported suspicious activity outside a woman's apartment. The suspect now faces pretrial detention while authorities examine his alleged crimes.

The case began when a witness saw two people loading items into a car near the woman's home. Officers searched the vehicle and found a firearm, cigarette packs and drink cans. Further searches at the suspect's apartment uncovered another gun.

The 32-year-old is suspected of robbing four gas stations between March 1 and March 14, 2024. In each incident, he allegedly threatened employees with a pistol. Police later expanded the investigation, linking him to a total of 11 robberies in the region during the same period.

Authorities provisionally detained both the suspect and his 20-year-old partner, who lives with him in the Schwalm-Eder district. A judge has since ordered pretrial detention for the man. Investigators are now assessing whether his partner played any role in the crimes.

The suspect remains in custody as the inquiry continues. Police are reviewing evidence to determine the full scope of the robberies and any potential involvement of the 20-year-old partner. The case will proceed under judicial oversight.
