Joint Operation in Krefeld, Mönchengladbach: 16 Wage Theft Cases, 7 Minimum Wage Violations

Authorities in Krefeld, Mönchengladbach, Viersen, and Rhein-Kreis Neuss conducted a joint inspection on St. Nicholas Eve, targeting cafes, shisha bars, gaming establishments, and other venues. The operation, involving the main customs office and local police, aimed to combat black work, illegal employment, and various criminal activities.

The inspection uncovered several violations, including suspected withholding of wages in 16 cases, and minimum wage violations in 7 instances. Additionally, mandatory notifications were not made in 5 cases. The operation also revealed offenses against the Tobacco Tax Act, Gaming Act, Non-smoker Protection Act, Narcotics Act, and traffic regulations.

During the inspection, two wanted individuals were apprehended, and a pending fine was settled to avoid arrest. In Krefeld, three people without valid residence permits were arrested. A total of 111 individuals were controlled, with initial inconsistencies found in 29 employment relationships. The authorities also discovered a case of operating without a concession.

The inspection, focusing on social security obligations, minimum wage compliance, and illegal employment, resulted in multiple suspected violations and arrests. Authorities aim to gain insights into illegal structures across different areas of crime and jurisdictions.
