International Fugitive Arrested at Frankfurt Airport for Violent Gas Station Attack
Federal police at Frankfurt am Main airport have arrested a 27-year-old Montenegrin man, wanted internationally for his alleged role in a violent gas station attack in Podgorica in 2018. The suspect, whose name remains unknown, now faces potential extradition and further investigation for illegal residence in Germany.
On August 20, officers at Frankfurt Airport's Terminal 2 checked the man's passport, revealing he had been living in Germany illegally for approximately a year. During the check, it was discovered that he was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by Montenegrin authorities. The suspect is accused of participating in an attack on a gas station in Podgorica in August 2018, using fists and iron bars. One victim sustained severe head injuries during the incident. The man is also alleged to have damaged a man's car with iron bars and kicks following the attack, potentially facing up to five years in prison in Montenegro.
The suspect was taken into custody by federal police officers and is now set to be extradited to Montenegro to face justice. Additionally, he will undergo an investigation for his illegal residence in Germany.
