Inspection at Seilerweg: The Klinikum Hersfeld-Rotenburg's shell construction is making progress
The new Hersfeld-Rotenburg Hospital at Seilerweg in Bad Hersfeld is making steady progress. One of Hesseās largest healthcare projects, it will bring modern medical services to East and Central Hesse upon completion. A recent inspection by hospital leaders confirmed that construction remains on track.
Work on the site began roughly a year ago. So far, crews have moved 52,000 m³ of earth, poured 23,000 m³ of concrete, and installed 4,500 tons of steel reinforcement. Around 60 workers are currently active on the project.
The new facility will house a large emergency centre, advanced operating theatres, and an interdisciplinary intensive care unit. It will also include specialised departments, extra nursing wards, and a helipad for fast emergency transport. Once finished, the hospital will offer about 630 beds, centralising acute care under one roof.
A delegationāincluding Managing Director Sebastian Mock, Commercial Director Sascha Sandow, and Architect Christina Knƶpfelārecently toured the site to review structural progress. The project is funded jointly by the federal government, the state of Hesse, and the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district.
Construction is set to finish by late 2026. Hospital departments will then relocate in stages throughout 2027.
The new hospital will become a key healthcare hub for the region. Its modern facilities and expanded capacity aim to improve medical services for residents across East and Central Hesse. Completion is expected to mark a major upgrade in local healthcare infrastructure.
