Hyundai Expands Europe Test Center in Russelsheim - Hyundai’s €150M Square Test Campus Expands Its European Automotive Ambitions
Hyundai has bolstered its European presence with a significant investment in its Rüsselsheim testing centre. The South Korean automaker has spent €150 million to expand the site, now named 'Square Test Campus', which was inaugurated on 6th November 2025.
The new Square Test Campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a charging lab, driving simulators, and a semi-anechoic chamber for rigorous testing of vehicles' noise, frequencies, and vibrations. This expansion comes amidst challenging times for the region, as engineering services provider Segula Technologies GmbH has recently filed for bankruptcy, leading to the closure of its test centres and job losses for around 300 employees.
The investment in Square Test Campus is set to strengthen Hyundai's market share in Europe. It also underscores Hyundai's commitment to the region and Europe's pivotal role in the company's long-term growth strategy. The research and development site now employs over 500 staff, marking a 20 percent increase from last year.
Hyundai's €150 million investment in Rüsselsheim's Square Test Campus signals a vote of confidence in Europe's automotive industry. The new facilities will enhance Hyundai's testing capabilities, potentially driving innovation and bolstering the company's European market share.
