Hunting lodge defaced with banned symbols in Niedenstein hate crime probe

A hunting lodge near Niedenstein's indoor swimming pool was vandalised on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. Unknown offenders sprayed an inverted swastika and politically charged slogans on the cabin walls. Authorities have launched a criminal investigation into the incident. The damage was discovered at a cabin close to Goddelbusch, where black spray paint had been used to apply the symbols. The inverted swastika measured roughly 30 by 40 centimetres. Police suspect the act may be linked to unconstitutional or terrorist organisations.

The State Protection Criminal Investigation Unit is leading the probe. While the exact time of the offence remains unclear, investigators are treating it as both criminal damage and the illegal display of banned symbols. The financial cost of the vandalism has yet to be assessed.

Witnesses with any information are urged to come forward. Authorities have provided a contact number, +49 561 910-0, for those who may have seen suspicious activity in the area. The use of such symbols is a criminal offence in Germany. Those responsible could face charges for property damage and promoting unconstitutional ideologies. The investigation is ongoing, with police appealing for public assistance.
