Hünfeld Police Avert Major Fire at Communal Accommodation

In a swift and brave response, Hünfeld police officers averted a major fire at a communal accommodation facility on Niedertor Street on Tuesday night. The incident, which could have caused significant damage and harm, was brought under control thanks to the quick thinking and action of the police.

The officers, on patrol at around 11:20 PM, discovered a burning trash can in the kitchen of the building. Without hesitation, they retrieved a fire extinguisher from their patrol car and successfully extinguished the flames. Their prompt response prevented the fire from spreading and engulfing the entire building, ensuring the safety of all residents who remained unharmed.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Polizeipräsidium Osthessen. Once the fire was extinguished, the Hünfeld fire department was called in to remove the charred remains of the trash can from the premises. Preliminary estimates suggest that the property damage amounts to approximately €500.

Thanks to the timely intervention of the Hünfeld police, a potentially serious incident was prevented. Their swift action ensured the safety of the residents and minimized property damage. The investigation into the cause of the fire continues.
