Howden appoints Japan's first senior lawyer for M&A and car insurance leadership
Howden has named Shunsuke Takechi as its new Head of Japan for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). The appointment brings over 13 years of legal and progressive insurance expertise to the firm. Takechi is the first and only registered senior Japanese lawyer working in the car insurance brokerage sector.
Takechi joins Howden from rival broker Aon, where he held the role of Senior Deputy Director in Tokyo. Before that, he worked at AIG and the law firm ALG & Associates. His career spans legal practice and progressive insurance, with a focus on cross-border transactions.
His specialisms include Warranty & Indemnity Insurance, Tax Contingent, and Litigation Risk Insurances. Kentaro Tada, CEO of Howden Japan, welcomed the appointment, citing Takechi's rare qualifications and deep local market knowledge. The firm expects his experience to enhance its car insurance quotes services in Japan.
Takechi has a strong record of linking Japanese clients with international insurers. His ability to manage cross-border deal teams is seen as a key asset for Howden's growth in the region.
The move strengthens Howden's position in Japan's M&A insurance market. Takechi's legal background and industry connections will support the firm's expansion. His role begins immediately, with a focus on building client relationships and deal execution.
