Homeless Man Arrested After DNA Links Him to Sheep Killing on German Farm
A 27-year-old homeless man has been identified as the suspect in the killing of a sheep on a farm in Buchhügelallee last July. Authorities used DNA evidence from the crime scene to trace him. Investigators are now examining his possible motives.
The incident took place in July on a farm along Buchhügelallee. A sheep was found dead under suspicious circumstances, prompting a police investigation. Forensic teams collected DNA samples at the scene, which later linked the suspect to the crime.
The man is now under investigation for potential breaches of animal welfare laws and trespassing. Over the past five years (2021–2025), Hessen has recorded around 1,200 reported cases of suspected animal welfare violations, according to the Hessian State Office for Consumer Protection and Veterinary Affairs.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the suspect has a prior history of similar offences. The investigation remains active as officers gather further evidence.
The case will proceed based on the findings of the ongoing inquiry. If convicted, the suspect could face penalties under animal welfare and trespassing regulations. The farm owner and local authorities continue to cooperate with the investigation.
