Höchst event empowers educators to combat child sexual abuse

An informative event focusing on child protection took place in Höchst, Germany, on Monday, November 10, 2023. The gathering, part of OPERATION SHIELD and the 'Break Your Silence' campaign, was organized by the Southern Hesse Police Headquarters and the Odenwald Police Directorate, with support from various local bodies and organizations.

The event, attended by around 50 educators, teachers, and childcare providers from the Odenwaldkreis and Bergstraße districts, aimed to raise awareness about recognizing signs of sexual abuse and steps to take if such abuse is suspected. Key points of contact for professionals were also discussed. The prevention theater group 'Mensch:Theater!' performed, presenting everyday scenarios and sparking discussions on effective response strategies. The event was further supported by the Sparkassen Foundation and the Citizens and Police Association (Bürger und Polizei e. V.) Bergstraße.

The successful event in Höchst highlighted the importance of collaboration between police, local authorities, schools, and support organizations in protecting children and adolescents from sexual abuse and violence. The engaging performances and informative discussions are expected to empower attendees to recognize and respond to potential abuse cases.
