Hit-and-run on A661 leaves father and daughter injured after BMW crash

A black BMW crashed on the A661 motorway near Frankfurt on Sunday afternoon after another vehicle forced it off the road. The incident left a 49-year-old man and his 13-year-old daughter with minor injuries. Police are now searching for the driver who fled the scene. The crash happened around 5:10 p.m. in the direction of Darmstadt, between Neu-Isenburg and Dreieich. The BMW driver, travelling with his daughter, was illegally overtaken on the right by an unknown vehicle using the acceleration lane of the Neu-Isenburg on-ramp. To avoid a collision, he swerved left, causing the car to skid and strike a guardrail.

The BMW was declared a total loss and had to be towed away. Both the father and daughter received medical treatment for minor injuries. Meanwhile, the other driver did not stop and left the scene immediately after the incident.

Investigators from the hit-and-run unit are now appealing for witnesses. They are seeking information about the fleeing vehicle or its driver. This case follows a pattern seen in other recent incidents, such as the Munich BMW crash on March 23, 2026, where only vague descriptions of the driver and vehicle were available. The search continues for the driver who caused the crash and fled. Authorities rely on witness accounts to identify the vehicle and its occupant. The BMW driver and his daughter have since been discharged from medical care.
