A hit-and-run incident occurred on the A3 motorway near Wiesbaden on Saturday morning. A 55-year-old driver from Kรผnzelsau caused a crash before fleeing the scene. Police later apprehended her and confiscated her licence after a witness confrontation at a rest stop.

The accident took place at around 10:30 a.m. between the Wiesbaden interchange and the Medenbach rest area, heading towards Cologne. The 55-year-old motorist, driving a Mercedes, overtook another vehicle in a way that forced a 39-year-old Cologne driver to swerve and hit a guardrail. The victim suffered minor injuries.

After the collision, the Mercedes driver left the scene. She was later confronted by a witness at the Medenbach-Ost rest stop but denied any involvement and drove off. Police launched a search, using patrol cars and coordination with highway authorities, before stopping the fleeing driver. The Wiesbaden public prosecutor's office ordered the confiscation of her driver's licence. She now faces hit-and-run charges. Authorities have asked any witnesses to contact the Wiesbaden highway police for further information.

The incident adds to the roughly 20โ€“30 hit-and-run cases reported annually on this stretch of the A3. The investigation will continue, with police reviewing evidence from the scene. The 39-year-old victim received medical treatment for minor injuries.
