Hit-and-run in Hünfeld leaves BMW X1 with €1,000 in damage as police hunt fleeing driver

A hit-and-run incident in Hünfeld left a 29-year-old woman's BMW X1 with around €1,000 in damage. The collision happened on Thursday morning in the parking lot of a clothing store on Paradiesgasse. Police are now searching for witnesses to identify the responsible driver.

The crash took place between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. when an unknown vehicle struck the left rear door of the Fulda woman's car. Instead of stopping, the driver fled the scene without reporting the accident or leaving contact details.

Meanwhile, officers later found a 23-year-old man near the location after he had run from the area on foot. Suspecting alcohol impairment, police conducted a blood test and immediately confiscated his driver's licence.

Authorities have urged anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses can contact Hünfeld police station directly on 06652-96580.

The BMW X1's owner now faces repair costs of roughly €1,000. Police continue their investigation into the hit-and-run, while the 23-year-old found nearby remains under scrutiny for possible alcohol-related offences. The case highlights ongoing efforts to hold drivers accountable for leaving accident scenes.
