Hit-and-run in Alsfeld leaves parked car with €5,000 in damages

A hit-and-run incident took place in Alsfeld on Monday, January 5. A parked car was damaged in a hardware store car park on Bahnhofstraße. The responsible driver fled the scene without stopping or leaving any details. The collision happened between 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. A dark grey VW Polo was struck while stationary, suffering extensive damage along its entire passenger side. Repair costs are estimated at around €5,000.

According to police records, such hit-and-run cases have been rare in the wider region. Over the past twelve months—from April 2025 to April 2026—no similar incidents were reported in Fulda or Hersfeld-Rotenburg. Official statistics from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior confirm zero recorded cases for these specific offences in those areas.

The at-fault vehicle remains unidentified, having left the scene unlawfully. Authorities are likely to review any available evidence, such as CCTV footage or witness statements. The owner of the damaged VW Polo now faces a repair bill of approximately €5,000.
