Heusenstamm firefighters battle 22nd blaze in just 24 days
Firefighters in Heusenstamm tackled a workshop blaze on Ottostraße on January 24, 2026. The incident marked the 22nd callout in the town within the first 24 days of the year. Heavy smoke filled the area after construction work earlier in the day sparked the fire.
Emergency crews arrived quickly at the scene. A total of 25 firefighters, an ambulance, and a police patrol were dispatched. Before their arrival, the area had already been evacuated, and no injuries were reported.
The team worked to extinguish the flames but faced challenges from hidden embers. These remained lodged in wooden panelling, requiring extensive overhaul operations. Once the fire was fully out, the burned item was removed, and the workshop was ventilated to clear the smoke. The operation lasted around two hours, concluding at approximately 3:30 p.m. This was not the first incident in January—earlier, crews had responded to a multi-family home on Schweitzerstraße. There, a smoke alarm and burning smell led to the discovery of charred bread left in a contact grill.
The workshop fire was brought under control without any reported injuries. Firefighters ensured the area was safe before leaving the scene. The incident adds to a busy start for emergency services in Heusenstamm this year.
