Hessian State Railway: Finance Secretary Kaesbach is New Supervisory Board Chairman

Till Kaesbach has been unanimously elected as the new chairman of the Hessian State Railway (HLB) supervisory board. He takes over from Uwe Becker and currently serves as Hesse’s financial state secretary. The appointment comes as the state-owned rail operator prepares for a fiscal year with projected revenues of around €520 million.

Kaesbach, a member of the CDU, now leads the supervisory board of Hessische Landesbahn GmbH. He described the HLB as a key player in local passenger transport, serving Hesse and neighbouring regions. The company employs roughly 1,800 people and covers about 18.6 million train-kilometres and 7.8 million bus-kilometres each year.

The HLB is also planning improvements to its services. A new maintenance facility in Butzbach is scheduled to open in 2026, aiming to boost reliability and service quality across its network.

With Kaesbach at the helm, the HLB moves forward with plans to strengthen its operations. The new facility in Butzbach will support its goal of better performance. The company remains a major transport provider in central Germany, connecting communities across multiple states.
