Hessian State Energy Award Opens for 2026 Submissions With €53,500 in Prizes
The Hessian State Energy Award is now open for entries, celebrating innovation in the energy sector. The competition invites businesses, individuals, cities, and schools to submit their projects across six categories. A total of €53,500 in prize money will be awarded to the most outstanding contributions.
The award recognises achievements in Electricity, Heat, Mobility, System Integration, Young Talent, and Social Engagement. Past winners include Africa GreenTec, which took the prize in 2018 for intelligent energy solutions. In 2020, ESM Energie- und Schwingungstechnik Mitsch GmbH from Heppenheim was named a finalist for its in-house energy transition efforts. More recently, the city of Bürstadt won first place in 2024 for its sustainable heating concept using groundwater heat pumps.
An independent jury will assess all submissions and select the best projects. Each category offers up to €7,500 in prize money. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on September 9, 2026, during the Future Forum on Energy and Climate in Kassel.
Hessian Energy Minister Kaweh Mansoori has urged participation, emphasising the need for bold ideas and committed individuals to drive the energy transition forward. Students and school pupils can also take part through the Young Talent category.
The Hessian State Energy Award highlights how innovation is shaping Hesse's energy future. Successful projects from previous years demonstrate the impact of creative solutions in heating, electricity, and beyond. The 2026 edition will once again showcase the region's progress in sustainable energy development.
