Hessian ‘Respect Package’ bridges gaps between youth and emergency responders in groundbreaking school event

The Hessian state government recently launched an initiative called the 'Respect Package' to foster better understanding between young people and emergency responders. On November 10, 2025, this initiative came to life at the Erich Kästner School in Wiesbaden-Schierstein, where an event called 'Cops in Conversation: Police and Schools in Exchange' took place, led by panelists Samirullah Abasi, Samir Bouhmara, Patrick Brzosa, and Marco Yildiz. The lively exchange covered the roles, duties, and challenges of emergency personnel. The event was moderated by Anja Schmitt and featured a presentation by Alexander Jaza on the importance of rules, values, and collaboration. The 'Respect Package' initiative includes a 22% increase in police allowances, expanded compensation for assaults, a 'Respect Week' campaign, and upgraded equipment. The 'Cops in Conversation' event was a successful step towards fostering understanding and respect between young people and emergency responders. The West Hessian Police Headquarters has announced that the event will continue in the next school year, with plans to host it at another school location.
