Hesse's 2026 municipal elections will reshape Marburg-Biedenkopf's future leadership
Hesse's next municipal elections will take place on 15 March 2026. In Marburg-Biedenkopf, nearly 190,000 eligible voters will choose new representatives for local councils and the district's highest governing body, the Marburg-Biedenkopf District Council. The vote will shape decision-making on key issues across the region.
The District Council of Marburg-Biedenkopf serves as the top authority in the district, where volunteer representatives handle essential matters. This election will determine its future members, alongside city and town councils.
In 16 communities, voters will also elect local advisory boards and immigrant advisory councils. These additional bodies provide input on neighbourhood and integration issues.
Twelve parties and voter groups have put forward candidates for the District Council race. The ballot will decide who represents residents in planning, budgets, and public services.
