Road Construction Speed - Experts Present Proposals - Hessen's expert commission unveils bold plans to revolutionize road construction

A Hessian expert group has been working on ways to make road construction faster and more efficient. The commission, set up in summer 2025, will present its first proposals to Economics Minister Kaweh Mansoori this Wednesday. Its recommendations focus on cutting red tape and using more recycled materials in building projects.

The Kommission Innovation in Straßenbau was formed to find better methods for roadworks across Hessen. Its members include industry leaders, construction firms, trade unions, and government officials. State Secretary Ines Fröhlich had earlier stressed the need for simpler procurement rules and greater sustainability in materials.

The group's findings will now go to Minister Mansoori, who has previously used expert advice to reform housing policies. While the exact details of the proposals remain undisclosed, the commission aims to speed up projects and reduce costs. No comparisons with similar schemes in other states have been made public.

The commission's report marks a step toward modernising road construction in Hessen. If adopted, the changes could lead to quicker project approvals and more environmentally friendly building practices. The minister's office will now review the recommendations before deciding on next steps.
