Hessen Mobil Funds Pedestrian, Cycle Path Lighting Along L 3040 in Rüsselsheim

Hessen Mobil and the city of Rüsselsheim have agreed that Hessen Mobil will fund illumination for pedestrian and cycle paths along the L 3040. This decision comes after a detailed discussion on responsibilities and costs for such infrastructure along Landesstraßen.

The L 3040 between Rüsselsheim and Königstädten is a Landesstraße, making Hessen Mobil primarily responsible for its maintenance and safety features. However, the responsibility for lighting is not automatic and depends on various factors. In this case, Hessen Mobil has agreed to fund the illumination, ensuring it meets high technical standards and minimizes environmental impact.

The roadworks are currently focused on the first phase, which involves resurfacing two lanes in the direction of Königstädten. This phase is expected to be completed by April 2025. Once finished, construction will shift to the eastern section (Phase 2) by the end of April. This phase includes the barrier-free redesign of the eastern bus stop and improvements to intersections at Bensheimer Straße and Hyundai-Platz. Before this, plans are in place to resurface the road at the motorway exit ramps of the Königstädten interchange, with traffic being diverted via the Rüsselsheim-Mitte interchange during this work. The city of Rüsselsheim will handle lighting at intersections and crossings for cyclists and pedestrians along the L 3040.

The agreement between Hessen Mobil and the city of Rüsselsheim ensures that the L 3040 will have adequate illumination for pedestrians and cyclists, improving safety and accessibility. The roadworks are progressing as planned, with the first phase expected to be completed by April 2025, paving the way for the second phase of improvements.
