Hesse Sees Major Drop in Burglaries Thanks to Police Tech and Community Efforts

In Hesse, burglaries have seen a significant drop, with 2021 figures standing at 5,867, far below pre-pandemic levels. This positive trend is attributed to enhanced police efforts and community involvement.

Hesse's police have been bolstering their fight against residential burglaries. They use advanced pattern recognition software to track trends and behaviors of traveling thieves. Additionally, they employ 'KLB-operativ', a predictive software that identifies hotspots and detects patterns used by criminals.

The police, along with crime prevention specialists from each of the seven regional headquarters, offer free advice to the public. They recommend solid basic protection for windows and doors, supplemented by alarm systems. The police also intensify their efforts during the switch to standard time, when burglary rates typically increase.

Hesse's commitment to reducing burglaries is evident in its investments in personnel and technology. With public participation and police efforts combined, the state continues to maintain its status as one of the safest in Germany.
