The Conference of Interior Ministers (IMSC) recently concluded its latest meeting with several key decisions. Topics ranged from tightening cannabis regulations to enhancing stadium security and expanding AI-powered surveillance. The gathering also addressed naturalisation rules, civil protection education, and drone defence strategies.

The IMSC backed Hesse’s push to curb abuses of EU freedom of movement, particularly in cases where individuals claim social security benefits. Delegates also debated whether to exclude subsidiary protection beneficiaries from naturalisation but failed to reach an agreement on the matter.

The IMSC’s decisions will lead to stricter oversight in areas like naturalisation, cannabis regulation, and stadium security. Schools will soon incorporate civil protection training, while AI surveillance and drone defence systems are set to expand. The next steps will depend on how federal and state authorities implement these measures in the coming years. The conference’s outcomes also highlight Hesse’s growing influence in shaping national security and administrative policies.
