Hesse Launches €33M Annual Fund to Revitalize Rural Villages by 2027

Applications for Hesse’s village development program opened today. The initiative offers funding for essential services, infrastructure, and community projects in rural areas. Local authorities are being encouraged to prepare their submissions before the February 2027 deadline.

The program supports a wide range of projects, from renovating village centres to building social and cultural spaces. Eligible schemes include multigenerational meeting places, local museums, and infrastructure upgrades. Both municipal and private investments can receive financial backing.

Hesse’s Minister for Homeland Affairs, Ingmar Jung, has called on local councils to start planning for the 2027 Rural King Development Funding. To apply, municipalities must work with residents to create a development concept. The funding period will begin in summer 2027 and run for six and a half years.

An average of €33 million per year will be available from state, federal, EU, and municipal sources. The goal is to create modern, sustainable villages that meet future needs. The deadline for submissions to become a funding priority is February 1, 2027.

The program aims to strengthen rural communities through targeted investments. Successful applicants will receive support for projects that improve daily life and local infrastructure. Funding decisions will be announced after the submission deadline in early 2027.
