Cross-border demand for Herrnhuter stars - Herrnhut Stars glow brighter with expanding demand in Germany and Czechia
The iconic Herrnhut Stars are shining brighter than ever, with growing demand in the Czech Republic and new expansions across Germany. Known for their distinctive design, these handmade decorations have deep roots in the Moravian Church and are now reaching more customers through markets and workshops.
The tradition of Herrnhut Stars began in 1897 in the Saxon town of Herrnhut, near the Czech border. Originally linked to the Moravian Church, their production has since become a commercial success. The company now employs around 230 people, with nearly 80 percent of the workforce being women. Workers operate in two shifts to meet demand, crafting stars that are sold at over 30 Christmas markets in Germany alone.
With rising sales and new installations, Herrnhut Stars continue to expand their presence in Central Europe. The company’s combination of tradition, craftsmanship, and modern marketing ensures their decorations remain a festive favourite. More Czech and German customers are now experiencing the brand’s handmade charm firsthand.
