Hansen Mürwik GmbH, a prominent bakery chain with eleven branches, has filed for insolvency at the Flensburg District Court. Despite the financial setback, all locations and the production site in Wees will keep running as usual.

The company changed hands in summer 2024 when master baker and business economist Hakan Çolak took over. Under his leadership, modernisation efforts were introduced to stabilise the business. However, rising energy and labour costs proved too great a burden, pushing the firm into insolvency.

The insolvency process has begun, but daily operations continue without disruption. Employees will receive their pay on time, and the search for investors is underway. The bakery’s operational profitability provides a solid foundation for restructuring efforts.
