Hanau’s Theodor Heuss School breaks ground on €9M eco-friendly expansion

Hanau has started expanding Theodor Heuss School in Steinheim as part of a broader upgrade plan. The project, estimated at around €9 million, includes new buildings, a green roof, and solar panels. Upon completion, the school will offer more full-day care and enhanced accessibility.

The city's new School Development Plan 2025–2029 outlines upgrades for all 25 municipal schools over the next few years. Theodor Heuss School is the first to commence construction, with an expected completion date of June 2027. The expansion will transform it into a 3.5-stream institution with full-day care.

The expansion will boost capacity and improve facilities at Theodor Heuss School. With completion slated for mid-2027, the upgrades will accommodate more students in full-day education and after-school programs. The city's broader plan will continue implementing similar improvements across its schools in the coming years.
