Hanau’s Hauptbahnhofbrücke rebuild hits key milestones in €56M upgrade
Major construction work is underway in Hanau, with several key projects progressing at the Hauptbahnhofbrücke and surrounding areas. The city's infrastructure upgrades include new drainage systems, improved access ramps, and a barrier-free pedestrian route. Funding for the €56 million scheme comes from the City of Hanau, Deutsche Bahn, and the State of Hesse.
The Hauptbahnhofbrücke project has reached a significant milestone. The southern superstructure was concreted earlier this year, followed by the northern section in October 2025. Together, these required 2,400 tons of concrete. Work on the bridge is running smoothly, with visible progress in recent months.
The projects will deliver improved accessibility, better drainage, and a fully renovated Hauptbahnhofbrücke by 2027. With funding secured and construction on schedule, the city is moving closer to completing its largest infrastructure upgrade in years. The work also ensures continued rail operations during the build.
